Abena and Murata invest in Silicon Valley based MediSens Wireless to introduce the world’s first intelligent diaper for everyday use.
Danish diaper manufacturer, Abena, and Japanese Technology company, Murata, invest in MediSens Wireless. The partnership brings MediSens Wireless’ wearable sensor platform to market by introducing the world’s first digital diaper for everyday use.
In most nursing homes, between 40 and 60 percent of residents suffer from urinary incontinence. This has a huge impact for residents, both physically and mentally, and requires significant amount resources from care institutions.
The new intelligent diaper, Abena Nova, supports caregivers in nursing homes and special needs facilities to provide better and more personalized care to people with urinary incontinence. The real-time knowledge from the Abena Nova Solution enables caregivers to provide personalized care based on actual needs. At the same time, they gain insight in the incontinence pattern of the resident.
Abena Nova is the world’s first truly intelligent incontinence product for everyday use. It fuses the in-depth knowledge of Danish incontinence care and high quality manufacturing from Abena with the innovative sensor technology from MediSens Wireless and advanced electronics expertise of Murata Manufacturing.
“We are very proud to present the world’s first intelligent diaper in cooperation with some of the most innovative international technology companies. With our vast experience in incontinence care combined with the unique sensor technology from MediSens Wireless, we have developed an outstanding product, which will secure better quality of life for people suffering from incontinence,” says Preben Terp-Nielsen, CEO of Abena.
